City Government and Public Works Ministry Collaborate to Repair Damaged Public Facilities

Jakarta Provincial Government collaborates with Central Government through Ministry of Public Works in order to repair damaged public facilities impacted by demonstration.

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, said the total loss of damage to public facilities, which was initially estimated at Rp 51.1 billion, has now increased to Rp 81.1 billion.

The additional losses were caused by damage of to two pedestrian bridges, one in Senen and one in front of the Regional Police Headquarters, estimated at around Rp 19 billion. Furthermore, CCTV cameras and 18 traffic lights were damaged, 17 of which have been repaired.

Pramono Assures Jakarta's Activities Return to Normal

"The data has been updated by the Bina Marga Agency," said Pramono, Tuesday (9/2).

Coordination regarding repairs to damaged public facilities was carried out by Governor Pramono together with the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo at the Jakarta City Hall.

In order to accelerate the repairs, the Jakarta Provincial Government will focus on improving the MRT, Transjakarta, Bank Jakarta, and several traffic lights. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works will repair two pedestrian bridges that were also damaged.

"I also ask for assistance from the Ministry of Public Works for the pedestrian bridge in Senen and also in Polda to be assisted by the Central Government," he added.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo agreed to the Jakarta Provincial Government's request to repair the two damaged pedestrian bridges. Dody aims to complete the repairs in less than seven days, with the bridges fully operational.

"The governor has requested to us for repairing the public facilities including in Senen. We'll take it for sure," he said.

Dody added the repair costs would be taken from the Rp 900 billion budget allocated for repairing damaged infrastructure throughout Indonesia following the demonstrations.

"We've already allocated around Rp 900 billion across all provinces in Indonesia. One of those funds will be used for these two pedestrian bridges," he stated.
